Cancer and the Immune System

Cancer and the Immune System There is a very important fact to know: We humans actually get cancer every day we live! Atypical cancer cells occur in our bodies every day. But the occurrence of these cancer cells does not mean that we have cancer. Our immune system cells instantly detect these cancer cells that occur every day and destroy them before they cause disease. So do not be afraid of cancer, be afraid of the deterioration of the balance of your immune system! Cancerous cells have “antigens” that activate the immune system. These antigens are like the identity card of the cells. When a foreign cell enters the body, the immune system immediately performs an identity check: It analyzes the cell's antigen. If the antigen is foreign to the body, the immune system is immediately alarmed, doing whatever it takes to destroy the cell. The same mechanism works when cancer cells occur. As soon as the immune system recognizes the antigens of cancer cells, it immediately takes action and destroys the cancer cell. Cells that attack the cancer cell are innate immune cells. In other words, human beings have immunity to cancer from the day they are born. The cancer-fighting immune system works against the cancerous cell just as it treats other harmful attackers: After the cancer cell is recognized, Macrophage cells sent to the area engulf and digest the cancer cell. The antigen (identification document) of the digested cancer cell is presented to the lymphocyte cells. Lymphocyte cells operate advanced immune mechanisms. Of these cells, Cytotoxic (Cell-killing) T lymphocytes are particularly sensitive to virus-infected cells. It has been proven that some types of cancer are caused by viruses. Here, in these types of cancer caused by the virus, cytotoxic (cell-killing) T lymphocytes take action as soon as they detect cancer cells infected with the virus. By making a violent attack, they destroy the cancer cell. The cells that make our body's first defense against cancerous cells are these Natural Killer cells. Natural Killer cells are cells that constantly patrol the body. They scan the whole body, while fatally attacking the cancer cells they catch. This scanning process is repeated thousands of times each day. As soon as they find the cancerous cell, they immediately attack and inject their lethal poison into the cancer cell. Just as a bee gives its venom by stinging with its sting, natural killer cells kill the cancer cell by "stinging" in the same way. The biggest advantage of these cells is that they recognize and attack the cancer cell as soon as it sees it, without the need to recognize the antigen of the cancer cell before, that is, without identifying it. Thanks to this feature, they can catch and kill cancer cells that have managed to escape from macrophage cells and T lymphocytes. So, our body is not vulnerable to cancer. The miracle immune system we have destroys the cancerous cell where it catches it. Then the gist of it is: Do not be afraid of cancer, be afraid of weakening of the immune system!
